PMTD 119 - Machining Fundamentals Internship (Capstone)


2 hrs (Sem I, II)
This course offers qualifying students the opportunity to gain real-world experience through hands-on work within an industry internship, directly aligning with their career objectives. Students will apply advanced machining skills learned in PMTD 112  and PMTD 116 , including complex machine setups, multi-component assembly, and CNC programming and troubleshooting. This hands-on experience provides or replicates on-the-job training while reinforcing precision machining techniques and problem-solving in a professional setting. Successful completion of this course earns credit toward an entry-level apprentice machinist role and enhances career readiness in the manufacturing industry or prepares students to pursue the next level of educational credentials. This course incorporates Indiana Tooling-U Grinding, Layout, Milling, Turning, and Sawing Standards Certification assessments. 1 lecture hour, minimum of 8 internship hours weekly.

Prerequisite(s): A grade of C or better in PMTD 112  and PMTD 116 .
