FIRE 151 - Hazardous Materials - Operations

3 hrs (Sem I, II)
This course addresses the minimum classroom lecture and psychomotor (hands-on) training and education standards as outlined by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security for Hazardous Materials First Responder- Operations certification as set out in Chapter 5 of NFPA 472, Standard for Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Incidents, 2018 Edition, published by the National Fire Protection Association, Quincy, MA. Students successfully completing the course will be eligible to sit for the state Hazardous Materials First Responder-Operations certification exam. Attendance and successful completion of the college course and/or program does not guarantee licensure or certification. 2 lecture hours, and a minimum of 30 practicum hours.

Prerequisite(s): A grade of C or better in FIRE 150 ; or permission from the Fire Program Department Chair.
