A Two-Year Program Leading to the A.S. Degree

This curriculum is designed for select military personnel for a career as an Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT). FAA-certificated AMTs hold highly-transferable skills that can be used in a broad range of industries; including airlines, fixed-base operators, manufacturers, repair stations, aviation maintenance schools, and in business or general aviation. Successful completion of the program and the required FAA exams leads the student to an FAA Mechanic Certificate with a Powerplant rating. Students generally also obtain an Airframe rating to become an “A&P Mechanic”.

Note: Students must satisfy the University’s minimal requirements by testing out or completing ENGL 010  or ENGL 079 , and MATH 010  or MATT 017  with a grade of C or better.

Federal Regulations Requirement
This program is regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration. Training is conducted in accordance with the requirements of Federal Aviation Regulations § 147.17.  Standards for mechanics are found in FARs § 65.71 - § 65.89.
