PMTD 150 - Precision Tooling I 6 hrs (Sem II) Specialty machines present unique safety hazards that require a student to demonstrate the ability to operate machines safely. This course is designed to present basic concepts in both tool & die and injection mold construction. Classroom discussion focuses on theory, terminology, calculations, and safety. Using conventional machine tools, each student will be required to build a progressive metal stamping die, set it up in a punch press and produce piece parts to blueprint specifications. Each student will also be required to build a plastic injection mold, set it up in an injection molding machine, and produce plastic piece parts to blueprint specifications. Entry level CNC will be introduced. 2 lecture hours, 18 laboratory hours.
Prerequisite(s): A grade of C or better in PMTD 120 .
