SOCL 240 - Social Work Practice 3 hrs (Sem I, II) This course is an introduction to the general framework of social work practice. It will include the basic theories and methods of general social work practice. Students will develop skills necessary for information gathering, interviewing, and assessment. Students will also be exposed to small group processes and problem solving within the generalist framework. It will present students with the core knowledge that assists students in understanding and appreciating the social worker’s role in intervention. Critical thinking, self-awareness, and the integration of theoretical perspectives are skills that are stressed in the course. Additional volunteer hours will be required. 3 class hours.
Speaking Intensive Course
Prerequisite(s): A grade of C or better in ENGL 101 or ENGL 112 ; and a grade of C or better in SOCL 153 .
