CHEM 104 - Consumer Science
4 hrs (Sem I, II)
Course examines the scientific method, metric system of units, basic atomic structure, periodic table and how chemicals are involved in everyday life including foods, medicines, cosmetics, polymers, acids and bases. Laboratory concentrates on common household reactions and simple reaction products commonly found in and around the home and workplace. 3 lecture hours, 2 laboratory hours.
Prerequisite(s): A grade of C or better in READ 009 , ENGL 009 or ENGL 011 , and MATH 010 or appropriate placement test scores.
