Aviation Maintenance Technology - Military Powerplant Concentration 8152, A.S. Career/Tech

A Two-Year Program Leading to the A.S. Degree

This curriculum is designed for select military personnel for a career as an Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT). Successful completion of the program and the required FAA exams leads the student to an FAA Mechanic Certificate with a Powerplant rating. Students generally also obtain an Airframe rating to become an “A&P Mechanic”.

Note: Students must satisfy the University’s minimal requirements by testing out or completing ENGL 010  or ENGL 079 , and MATH 010  or MATT 017  with a grade of C or better.

Federal Regulations Requirement
This program is regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration. Training is conducted in accordance with the requirements of Federal Aviation Regulations § 147.17.  Standards for mechanics are found in FARs § 65.71 - § 65.89.
