A Certificate of Program Completion
The fire response certificate program is designed to expose the student to the basics of the fire service, EMS (Emergency Medical Service) and related fields. Students will receive an introductory all-hazards training and education to prepare them for the fire/EMS industry of today. Students will be required to provide or rent personal protective equipment, including but not limited to boots, bunker pants, suspenders, coat, hood, gloves, and helmet that is fully compliant with applicable National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 1851) standards. Proof of a firefighter physical may be required for some classes. This program is designed for the recent high school graduate and/or someone who wants to explore opportunities in the fire/EMS industry.
Note: Rental protective equipment is available through the program. This program is designed for the recent high school graduate and/or someone who wants to explore opportunities in the fire/EMS industry. A minimum grade of ‘C’ is required in all Major Program courses to be eligible for graduation. Attendance and successful completion of the college course and/or program does not guarantee licensure or certification.
Program Admission Requirements
- Program applications can be requested through the department or downloaded via the Internet.
- ALL items must be completed by July 15th of each year for Fall studies.
- Admission to Vincennes University.
- Be 18 years of age or older. (An age waiver is available, please request information.)
- Students will be required to complete a criminal background check.
- Students will be required to submit their proof of a recent firefighter physical, and annually thereafter.
- Students will be required to submit their vaccination/immunization records.
