A Two-Year Program Leading to the A.S. Degree
This concentration within chemical sciences is excellent preparation for a career in clinical laboratory, food science, or pharmacy. Pharmacists, Clinical Laboratory Technologists, and Food Scientists are much in demand in the job-market for research and development in chemical and pharmaceutical industries, medical laboratories, and state and federal governments because the graduates acquire an outstanding range of skills in mathematical competence, problem-solving, data handling, analysis, observation, teamwork, communication, and report writing that employers value greatly.
Students will work with their advisors in developing their schedule according to their career goals. VU Chemical Sciences students are given excellent leadership and volunteer opportunities related to their concentrations throughout their two years at VU. Students completing this program to pursue food science can benefit from a 2+2 transfer agreement with Purdue University.
