Bachelor of Science Degree

Through the depth of curriculum and practical experiences, Homeland Security and Public Safety majors will develop enhanced knowledge, skills and abilities in a broad range of homeland security concepts and issues in a rapidly evolving domestic and international landscape. Students will examine the U.S. homeland security enterprise, to include the domestic and international interagency and intergovernmental relationships and dependencies.  Students will identify the key principles of the all-hazards approach, to emergency and disaster management; to include mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.  Students will learn the concepts of risk prevention and management, counter-terrorism, consequence management and consequence mitigation.  The interdisciplinary curriculum includes topics covering domestic and international terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, homeland security and intelligence, homeland security law, crisis and disaster response and national and international homeland security policy.  The Homeland Security and Public Safety Program is designed to prepare the graduate interested in pursuing public sector careers in local, state, and federal law enforcement, to include the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Transportation Security Administration, the Secret Service and the Department of State.  The program is also designed to prepare graduates who are interested in private sector careers in corporate and international security.

Admission into this baccalaureate degree program is contingent on acceptance to Vincennes University and will require approval of the Homeland Security and Public Safety Baccalaureate Degree Department Chair and the Dean of Business and Convergent Technologies.
