A Two-Year Program Leading to the A.A.S. and A.S. Degree
This program is designed to prepare graduates for an entry-level position in fire service and related fields. Students will have the opportunity for testing and certification from the International Fire Science Accreditation Service (IFSAS) in selected areas. The program will provide those presently employed in the field an opportunity to obtain the needed course work to acquire a degree through Distance Education. All students are required to possess a complete set of fire gear (boots, bunker pants, suspenders, coat, hood, gloves and helmet) that is fully compliant with applicable National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.1 A fire fighter physical will be required for some classes. For students enrolled in the Florida Education Program: Licensed by the Commission for Independent Education, Florida Department of Education. The Reading Intensive requirement may be met by FIRE 103 .
The Writing Intensive requirement may be met by FIRE 206 .
The Speaking Intensive requirement may be met by FIRE 205 .
The Mathematics Intensive requirement may be met by a subsequent mathematics course or by passing a mathematics assessment examination.
A grade of C or better is required in all Basic Skills courses. Liberal Education Core (20)

1 Gear brought to campus will be inspected by a qualified fire officer. At the beginning of each semester, students will have an opportunity to purchase a set of gear at a discounted price from a distributor. |
