SOCL 245 - Cultural Diversity: Sociology 3 hrs (Sem II) Utilizing a sociological approach, this course will provide students with an opportunity to explore their own ethnic roots. In addition, it will increase their understanding of the main ethnic groups in the United States: Appalachians, Native Americans, Afro-Americans, Asian-Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Hispanics. The social and religious impact on the cultural integration of these groups will be introduced. Discussions on how these aspects of United States culture may affect international dialogues will also be included. 3 class hours.
Reading, Writing and Speaking Intensive Course
Prerequisite(s): A grade of C or better in READ 011 , or SAT Reading score of 420 or greater, or appropriate placement test scores, and a grade of C or better in ENGL 101 and SOCL 151 .
