HSGN 340 - Cultural Competence in Health Care

3 hrs (Sem I, II, Summer)
This course is designed for anyone interested in the impact of diversity on health and health care. Within this course, students will explore the impact on one’s own culture in establishing a belief system and how cultural and personal biases may impact patient care. The impact of various cultural factors, such as economic status, cultural history, and social culture on health and wellness will be explored throughout the course. Students will further expand their knowledge of individual responsibility and the responsibility of all healthcare professionals to consider the impact of decisions on diversity, equity, and inclusion in the health of the community and country. 3 class hours.

Prerequisite(s): A grade of C or better in ENGL 102  or ENGL 112 .
