HSGN 104 - History and Changes of Funeral Service


2 hrs (Sem I)
This course offers a comprehensive exploration of the history of funeral service, emphasizing the significant individuals, events, and cultural influences along with societal changes that have shaped modern funeral practices. Students will explore concepts of the evolution of embalming, examining birth cohorts and various religious rites, impact of social structures, family dynamics, various types of funerals, and origins of cremation and alternative dispositions. Additionally, this exploration course covers the growth of funeral service associations and the progression of educational standards, highlighting their impact on professionalism and ethics in the field. 2 class hours.

Prerequisite(s): Students must qualify for ENGL 010  or ENGL 079  and must qualify for MATH 013 MATT 017 , or higher.
