PMTD 111 - Machining Fundamentals I

2 hrs (Sem II)
This course builds on the skills learned in PMTD 110/110L, providing hands-on experience with milling machines, lathes, and surface and pedestal grinders. Emphasis is placed on shop safety, industrial terminology, precision measurement, and the correct use of tools and equipment. Students will refine their ability to interpret blueprints, calculate speeds and feeds, and perform machining operations with more precise tolerances than in previous coursework. As the first course in a three-course sequence, it establishes a strong foundation for tighter tolerances and more complex machining challenges in future levels. This course incorporates Indiana Tooling-U Grinding, Layout, Milling, Turning, and Sawing Standards Certification assessments. 1 lecture hour, 3 laboratory hours.

Prerequisite(s): A grade of C or better in PMTD 110 /110L .
