HSPS 351 - Contemporary Issues and Practices in Private Security 3 hrs (Sem I) This course will provide Homeland Security students a fundamental understanding of current issues and trends within private security and the role private security professionals contribute to crime prevention and mitigation, detection, and investigation. Various aspects of private security, including armed protective services, retail loss prevention, industrial and institutional security, security surveys, and risk and vulnerability analysis will be explored. Evaluation of the effectiveness of a variety of security system applications will be assessed. The impact of current homeland security issues on the private security sector will be studied. 3 lecture hours.
