AFLT 107 - Private Flight: Jet Access 4 hrs (Sem I, II, Summer) Students will learn to safely operate their primary training aircraft including obtaining knowledge of aircraft components, operation of systems, basic trouble-shooting and emergency management. Students will be introduced to all flying maneuvers and procedures required to obtain a Private Pilot Certificate. Students will master private pilot skills and knowledge required by the FAA Airman Certification Standards (ACS). The course will focus on preparation for the Private Pilot Practical Exam. Students will continue cross-country training with an emphasis on realistic flying scenarios in addition to regular dual and solo flights to improve skills to the levels required by the ACS. Students will hone their knowledge of their aircraft, understand basic weather theory and be able to read and interpret aviation weather reports and forecasts, predict the performance of the aircraft in any conditions and be able to apply this knowledge to make sound decisions. Students will be able to use knowledge of US airspace to navigate safely and legally through the National Airspace System. Students may also elect to complete the FAA Private Pilot Practical Exam and obtain a Private Pilot Certificate. Emphasis for the course will be mastery of the aircraft. 4 lecture/laboratory hours.
Prerequisite(s): Students must qualify for ENGL 010 or ENGL 079 ; and must qualify for MATH 013 or MATT 107 .
