FIRE 251 - Advanced Firefighting - Engine Company Operations 3 hrs (Sem II) Students will study engine company operations and the core skills required to perform the basic functions of an engine company member on the fireground. The knowledge and skills provided are foundational and include, but are not limited to basic hose loads, hose load deployments, flaking and positioning hose lines, advancing and operating hose lines, basic fire attack, and additional engine company related skills. The skills are designed to connect all aspects of engine company fireground operations from initial arrival to final extinguishment. The lab portions of the class will be physically demanding and be done under safe and controlled simulated live fire conditions. Students are expected to hold Firefighter I & II certification or an equivalent. This course will demonstrate student knowledge and ability of PLO 2 and PLO 3 of the Fire Science and Safety program. 1 lecture hour, 2 laboratory hours.
