GEOS 251 - Natural Hazards and Society 3 hrs (Offered on Demand) This course examines the Earth processes that create natural disasters, such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, landslides, forest fires, landslides, flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes, meteorite impacts, etc. The effects of natural disasters on society and the landscape will be investigated. In addition, a special focus will be placed on human responses to natural hazards, such as mitigation options, emergency response, policy, and social reactions. 3 lecture hours.
Prerequisite(s): Students must qualify for ENGL 101 ; and must qualify for MATH 013 or MATH 022 , or higher.
