CHEM 101 - Elementary Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry
3 hrs (Sem I, II)
Prerequisite(s): A grade of C or better in CHEM 100 and CHEM 100L , or CHEM 103 and CHEM 103L , or CHEM 111 . Corequisite(s): CHEM 101L . (A full year of high school chemistry may be substituted for CHEM 100 /CHEM 100L or CHEM 103 /CHEM 103L or CHEM 111 .) An introduction to basic nomenclature and reactions of organic functional groups, and a brief study of the function, structure, and metabolism of the macromolecules of the living system with an introduction to body fluids.
