Precision Manufacturing Technology 8470, A.A.S.

A Two-Year Program Leading to the A.A.S. or A.S. Degree

This major prepares students for gainful employment in general machine shops, tool and die shops, and large industrial tool rooms with emphasis placed on manual machining, CNC machining, metal stamping die, and plastic injection mold construction. All students will be required to provide their own set of machinist tools. Students intending to complete the Purdue University Industrial Technology B.S. Degree through the VU partnership program are encouraged to consult with their advisor regarding specific course requirements not listed in this catalog.

Basic Skills Core (9)


Note


The Reading, Writing and Speaking Intensive requirements may be met by PMTD 235 .
The Mathematics Intensive requirement may be met by Mathematics Elective for A.A.S. or by MATH 102  for A.S. or by passing a mathematics assessment examination.

A grade of C or better is required in all Basic Skills courses.

Computer Skills are enhanced by PMTD 125 , PMTD 225  and PMTD 235 .

Note


Lecture/laboratory classes are designed to be taken concurrently. They cannot be taken separately or dropped separately. Failure in either the lecture or lab will require that the entire course be taken again. Students wishing to withdraw from either the lecture or lab must withdraw from both.

1 The PMTD 120  requirement may be satisfied by completion of PMTD 117 , PMTD 118 , and PMTD 119  Basic Machining I, II, and III.
