OADM 219 - Medical Transcription
2 hrs (Sem II)
Beginning transcription with emphasis on the use of word processing software to process medical histories, SOAP notes, consultation reports, radiology reports, discharge summaries, etc., discussion of the confidential nature of such records, report forms, punctuation, capitalization, number, and abbreviation rules. The use of taped dictation by doctors, including foreign accents will enable students to acquire skills in transcribing as well as building speed in their completion of documents on computers. Medical vocabulary expansion will be stressed, along with employment standards of accuracy and neatness. 3 lecture/laboratory hours.
Prerequisite(s): A passing grade in OADM 161 and OADM 170 .
