Curriculum is designed and tailored to meet the training needs of each specific business or industry; incorporating company culture. VU’s Business and Industry Training provides quality education and training that produces measurable improvement in job performance of workers and gives the competitive edge needed to compete in a global market. The ABB Robotics Lab is located at the Indiana Center for Applied Technology, otherwise known as the ICAT building. The ICAT facility is located on the Vincennes University Campus which offers 50,000 square feet of laboratory space, classrooms, and offices. The ABB Robotics training lab features 20 ABB robots and related work cells, software and controllers, and will allow students to gain training in applications that include robotic welding; picking, packing and palletizing; machine tending, material handling and product assembly.

Industrial Maintenance training through Vincennes University offers a variety of courses to meet needs in the industry. Courses are offered on a rotating basis at the Vincennes University Vincennes, Fort Branch, Lebanon, Plainfield, and Jasper Campuses. This program trains incumbent workers in areas including Basic AC/DC Electrical Systems, Electric Motor Controls and Troubleshooting, Variable Frequency Drives, Electronic Sensors, AC Electronic Drives, Mastering PLC’s, Power and Control Electronics, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Troubleshooting, Mechanical Drives Training, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Mechatronics. A 16-week Industrial Maintenance course was introduced in October 2014 which includes the majority of the classes listed above. Also located in the ICAT is VU’s Haas Technical Education Center (HTEC) CNC Training Center, and North America’s first HTEC teacher training and certification center. This initiative has allowed VU to become a world class training and certification center for HTEC teachers in over 2,000 HTEC schools. It has also allowed VU to work with industrial partners to set the standard for Haas and Mastercam training and certification, and Renishaw ballbar training for all interested parties. Overwhelming industry need and demand led to the development of the 15 week, 600 hour Right Skills NOW - CNC Machining Program for veterans and civilians. The 15 week program addresses the dire need for machinists and helps solve the dismal Veteran unemployment problem. Vincennes University created the 15 week training program with support from the Haas Network and the VU HTEC Advisory Committee. The HTEC CNC lab features 16 Haas CNC machines and the training courses range from entry level to advanced training. The VU HTEC now has a second site for CNC training, along with the addition of Metrology training.  The facility is the Gene Haas Training and Education Center located in Lebanon, Indiana.  The center shares the building with the Haas HFO Midwest and is equipped with 13 Haas CNC machines and a fully functional dimensional metrology lab.  The 600 hour, 15 week training model is used at the center, along with shorter-term custom training class offerings.  For more information, please contact Doug Bowman at the Vincennes HTEC dbowman@vinu.edu or 812-888-4159, or Dan Flick at the Lebanon Gene Haas Training and Education Center dflick@vinu.edu or 317-362-4738.
